Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new attachments. They can also improve the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, retrieved as loot by enemies, or received from chests and missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the user must choose it and click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats and the necessary component or materials.
There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from earlier versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before being "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level, but the required materials do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of those items, instead of dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This allows the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It resets at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it is able to get an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. For example an uncommon or rare weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes for it and legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete, depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material however it will result in less chance of success.
Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building against a known point, such as an existing benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level before turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential part of the game, and it can improve the strength, damage or other attributes. You can do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be used in rare cases.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the degree of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.
Prior to this, certain upgrade item s were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you could be able to get the stats that were important most to your build more often than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This can be a good or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and expectations from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that increases the item's power by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher chances of obtaining a unique bonus.
The game also includes number sets that give the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an item. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending a lot of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling is a way to create a more powerful character faster, allowing you to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can be different sizes, have no elements, or contain one element. They can be used to organize data or sort information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
There are many set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Sets of armor that offer high defense values or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you own lots of armor or weapons already.
Some set items are upgraded for their unique procs that can be beneficial in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level with their levels. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements of specific items.
In general, armor and weapons have higher value when they are updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. This will also boost the defense value of armor with an updated look.
